Bola Kuforiji-Olubi set new standards for women in business and finance

Kuforiji-Olubi's career of remarkable achievements across multiple industries began at 19 when she became headmistress of a girls' school in Plateau State. In 1989, she became the first female President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), introducing the Accounting Technicians Course to improve professional accessibility.
When she became the first female Chairman of United Bank for Africa (UBA) in 1984, she also became the first woman to lead a publicly listed company in Nigeria. Under her tenure, UBA experienced significant growth and innovation. She was also Nigeria's first female CEO of a multinational company, VYB Industries Limited, where her strategic vision drove expansion.
In 1993, she had a brief tenure as Minister for Commerce and Tourism in Nigeria’s short-lived Interim National Government (ING).
