Rosaline Omotosho broke barriers as Nigeria’s first female Chief Judge. Called to the English Bar in February 1961, she enrolled at the Supreme Court of Nigeria four months later, beginning her legal career as a Pupil Crown Counsel in the Federal Ministry of Justice.

Demonstrating exceptional legal expertise, she rose through various roles, becoming Director of Commercial Law in 1976 and was appointed to the High Court of Lagos State in 1978.

Her groundbreaking journey reached its peak in 1995, when she was appointed Chief Judge of Lagos State, a position she held until 1996. Her tenure was a landmark achievement in the judiciary, opening doors for future generations of female legal professionals in the country. In recognition of her contributions, a courthouse in Ikeja was named in her honour in 2015.
