Lorine Okotie released her debut Pop album Single Girl in 1983, but it was Love Medicine, released in 1990, that marked her true breakthrough. With tracks like Love Medicine and Jesus I Love You, she introduced a sound that blended Gospel with Pop and Soul, setting a new direction for faith-based music in Nigeria.

Her contemporary style gave Gospel a broader appeal, allowing it to compete on the same stage as other mainstream genres of the time. Okotie’s work helped to redefine what Gospel could sound like for a new generation of listeners.
