Mustapha Amego was a dynamic figure in Nigerian entertainment during the late 1980s and early 1990s. Fired by his love for James Brown, he taught himself to play the conga drums and bass guitar as a child and later joined bands like the Basins and the Kalahari Funk band. After studying business administration in London and performing with several groups there, he returned to Nigeria in 1986.
Back home, he became the presenter and creative force behind the Kessingsheen Hit Show, and made it a must-watch for music and pop culture lovers. He also hosted another musical programme, Roll Tape, and in 1989 released his solo album, Guaranteed, with tracks like Lagos, Luva and Lespatee.
